The party confirmed earlier this year to 6 News that they would contest local elections across Australia.
Pauline Hanson's One Nation has gained a new representative in Victoria, with Baw Baw Shire councillor Ben Lucas joining the party on Monday.
Speaking to The Warragul and Drouin Gazette, the West Ward councillor said it was likely he would contest Bass or the Eastern Victoria Region at next year's Victorian state election. He said he "would get involved" with the party's executive in Victoria, although maintained his view that "party politics shouldn't be involved in local council".
Lucas was a Liberal Party member until September, although was never endorsed by the party at local elections. Victoria's next local elections are in 2028.
Meanwhile, One Nation Tasmania leader Lee Hanson has told 6 News that the party is "definitely" looking at endorsing candidates for next year's local elections in the island state.
"We want to look to local council...it'll be a case-by-case basis...the branches will be critical to this", Hanson said on Wednesday.
"Don't rule it out – it's coming".
Earlier this year, Pauline Hanson confirmed during an exclusive interview with 6 News that her party would branch out into local elections as they continue to expand.
