History and past results
Lake Hume was created for the 2024 local elections as part of Wodonga's switch from one council-wide ward to seven single-member wards.
Independent candidate Hannah Seymour was elected with 51.2% of the vote in the two-candidate-preferred count, defeating Wodonga mayor Ron Mildren. She was one of six independents elected across Wodonga, with the Libertarian Party winning Marimba Park Ward.
Seymoure= stated in a Facebook post on 30 June that she would resign as "an opportunity has arisen in another state that will bring me closer to my personal support network, something that is incredibly important to me at this time in my life".

Analysis
This will likely be a race without any party endorsements, although the locally-active Libertarian Party could endorse a candidate. Based on the 2024 results, you'd think Ron Mildren would have a decent chance if he contested.
